SPIDER WEAVER

In Cherokee myth it is Spider that brings fire to mankind.
In this story the Thunders send their lightning and place
it in a hollow of a sycamore tree growing on an island.
After all the other creatures had failed to bring the fire
from the island, the water spider spun a thread from her back.
She swam across, got a coal of fire into her bowl,
and crossed back to the shore. She gave humans the first fire.
The symbol of spider was common on ceremonial objects and
shell gorgets of pre-contact Native Americans
...and it is still used today.
The spider image is often combined with the cross motif and
is thought to represent fire.

Spider is also a weaver.
She can symbolize the craft of stitchery and weaving,
as she is the first worker of threads. Her artistry
inspires our creative side…while her structured approach
earns the respect of our practical side.
Our sterling silver spiders
are created by method of lost wax casting.
Each spider holds a precious object from the gem world.
All chains are sterling silver.
